Mark Keiser

Mark is an ASE Master Technician who has been working in the automotive industry since 1982 and has had a smog license since 1984. Diagnostics and troubleshooting are his areas of specialty with twenty years experience working on technical support hotlines for national companies including Automotive Data Systems, Snap-On, Kia Motors America, and Fisker. Mark is excited to bring his fifteen years of experience of teaching BAR certified courses to the Smog Tech Institute. Mark enjoys instructing, and his effectiveness can be seen in his students’ high success rates on tests. Mark's teaching style makes learning easy.



Greg Ramirez

Greg is an ASE Master Technician who has been working in the automotive field since 1980. Greg has been involved with the Smog Check program since 1984. Greg brings to Smog Tech Institute years of experience and education. He has an Automotive AA Degree from Fullerton College, A Bachelor Of Arts Degree from Aberdeen University in automotive technology, and holds California teaching credential. Greg is BAR certified Instructor for California, A prior repair shop ownership, Teaches automotive classes for Fullerton College. He previously taught for  (We Teach U). He is a member of the California Automotive Teachers and member of Fullerton Automotive Advisory Committee. Greg is also a referee for the California state smog program. 



Luz Ferro

After immigrating from Panama, Luz found her passion in Auto Technology. She earned her Smog Technician license while pursuing GM Factory Certification as a Saturn/GM Technician. She has a degree in Education from University of Phoenix and Certificates in Automotive Mechanics and Electronic Engine Controls from Miracosta College. In 2016, she was inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Luz brings 15+yrs of experience teaching Auto Technology and the Smog Program at several community colleges throughout Southern California. She became the first female automotive instructor for Universal Technical Institute where she earned several awards for her efforts in empowering women in the industry, and for her contributions to the Smog Program curriculum. Luz is ASE Certified and has logged over 600hrs of specialized training as a technician and instructor. In 2007, she published her first material in Auto Technology. She was an editor and writer for Mitchell Repair and Corvette Online, but her true passion is in the classroom. Luz is STI’s curriculum designer and teaches the Smog program at our San Diego and San Marcos campuses.

Rob Waller

Throughout almost 30 years of automotive teaching (25 years of which as a California BAR Certified Smog Instructor), Robert has consistently strived to fulfill his main commitment to his students....which is to give them their money's worth. He understands completely that education is designed to be a quality-based service, in the same manner, that most automotive technicians view their profession. Robert is especially adept with presenting technical information in ways that simplify understanding and comprehension for all involved. He has been with STI for many years, previously had been employed for 10 years by both Snap-On Technical Training Systems and We Teach U, and had been the Lead Smog Instructor at UTI for 8 years. Robert's first automotive position in the industry dates to 1979 in a specialty turbocharger shop, and later became a specialist with Euro-spec gray market import vehicles. Of course, he also has extensive experience in a Smog Check Test and Repair environment as an inspector, diagnostic, and driveability technician. He currently holds 12 ASE certifications, including A1-A8 Master, A9, G1, X1, & L1
