Technicians who wish to maintain their repair license must ensure that their ASE A6, A8, and L1 certifications, or Bar Specified Diagnostic Training, are up to date and complete the required update training. Please note that Bar Specified Diagnostic Training is not a substitute for ASE certification, but rather a different option for maintaining your license. After August 2014, the BAR will no longer accept a combination of ASE and ASE Alternative certifications to meet this requirement.
The new Bar Specified Diagnostic and Repair Training has replaced the old ASE Alternative program, and certification is valid for 5 years from the completion date.
